Obviously, since this issue (or its fix) is not mentioned in the release notes.

To clarify, this is a short-lived branch. Our intention is to roll out the fixes for these critical issues as soon as possible in the upcoming 304 release series.

Thank you for letting us know!

I also hope a fix for dead vesafb consoles is en route as well.

Dell E6510, Nvidia NVS3100M, Ubuntu 12.04 x86-64: suspend/resume has worked fine for a long time, but broke when I updated from 295.59 to 302.17 (black screen on resume). Attaching bug report log.

Same bug here, Dell Precision M4400 with Quadro FX 770M. I am able to ssh to it, but the bugreport hangs on
Code:
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0/information
Attached is the report after a fresh boot.

I went through a lot of struggle trying to get things stable with my card (GT7950) on my Ubuntu 12.04 x64 load, and finally did with the 295.59 set. Everything was finally going well so you'd think I would have been careful about not letting the drivers get touched, but I didn't so this 302.17 set got into my system through the ppa updates and now I have troubles again..

I haven't tried the resumability yet, but when I first booted after the update I had to hard boot three times before it could pick up some default screen resolutions that could display on my monitors (I'd get black screens or flashing black screens). Now when I try to load a video, or start the screensaver, or try to load an app in wine, the screens will just go black and start flashing and I am stuck until a few more hard reboots until some default resolutions comes back and then I can go back in to set resolutions in x config..

I am sure there are some tricks to make this at least a little less painful, but I am pretty new to the scene.. Also the additional drivers app says the current drivers are activated but not in use.

I don't know how to produce a log, but I attached my conf file.

Update: I tried suspending and got black screens after coming back, but was able to CTRL+SHIFT+BACKSPACE and got my screens back...

Update: Ok I felt bad about not spending the time to learn how to get the bug report. So I've added it as well, in case it might be helpful.

Update: I also apologize for posting in this thread. I wish I would have done this in a seperate thread since i don't have the same issue here.

Update: I was just messing around with settings and decided to try deleting my conf file and resaving it. It said something about auto fixing some mode conflicts and I let it autofix and now things seem to be much more stable.. ;-)

I can confirm this is happening for me on Arch Linux using 302.17 on a 9300M GS (Laptop).

Was working fine until a sytem update which brought in new drivers.

After suspend, X is going crazy on CPU which causes overheating and shutdown (unrelated problem). I can just about ssh in and start bug-report running but it never completes until shutdown (approx 2-3 mins). The same thing happens with and without vesafb.

Interestingly, if I do a console login only, X doesn't go nuts (it isn't running) but I still get the same issue, again with or without VESA. I can do a bug-report in approx 15seconds in this case.

Also, the same thing is happening even if I turn off X and then unload the nvidia kernel module, again with or without VESA.

The only way I can actually make it work correctly is to blacklist the nvidia kernel module so it never loads and then a console only session will succesfully resume.

I've attached 6 bug reports in a tar'd gz (Using X normally, X off, X off & module removed --- all with & without VESA) and can confirm that the first case of normal X use and suspend was working previously. (I obviously didn't do all these crazy extensive tests when it worked )
