After reading all the second look reviews it seems that if you plan on overclocking the 7970 > the 680 so I went with the Gigabyte 7970 with the 3 fan cooler. This thing idles in the low 30's and hasn't been out of the 60's under load.

I have it running at 1200/6000 so far and it's been fantastic. Quite a bit faster than my 580.

Those are some seriously good temps.

How much faster if your could please as I too like u before possess a 580...

Well if a stock 7970 is ~30% faster(130% of a 580) then I'd guess at ~30% clocks its probably around 70% faster than 580.

In bf3 multiplayer I get 65-85 fps with every setting on ultra vs 40-60 on the 580 with a mixture of high/ultra. Feels much smoother. My 3dmark 11 score is a little over 2000 higher than with the 580 at 900 MHz core speed.

We can do some benches vs each other if you want. Would be great to see just how much different the performance is.

Unfortunately I do not have BF3. I don't FPS!

But I do have Metro 2033 and rage (STEAM SALES)

and Civ 5

I just MMO or RPG or racing sim these days, more the former than the later

Yeah we could benchmark

My system is a bit older gen than yours by 3 generations as well lol
