Can't remember the power brick one for the 8800GTX, but he's not exactly wrong about the GTX480, as it was in production for maybe 6 months before it got replaced by the GTX580, and most reviews stated at the time that it's what the GTX480 should have been from the start.. ![]() Bottom line is that your prediction for a high end version of Kepler by march is doubtfull, and i'm putting it as nicely as i can here... ![]() |

Yeah. If they are high in Aussie, they will be high here. It would be good if they are around $700, I would be happy. Can't really see them any cheaper here.

There's always the HD7950, wich will sell for 100$ less than the HD7970, going by MSRP pricing of course, and has the advantage over the regular GTX580 of still having 3 GB of ram onboard rather than the 1.5 GB the regular GTX580 comes with, assuming both are pretty close to eachother performance wise of course. |

For us to get two 7970s would be more of a side grade, basically more of the same with the added inconvenience of waiting for hot fixes on Catalyst drivers.

This should be good news for ATi fans as well though, because the price of 7970 will certainly drop after people see the Kepler benchmarks thrashing it.

Take it for what it is really(a rumor), but it seems that the first release of the kepler generation will be the midrange card, with the high end version that aims to beat the HD7970 coming out later...No idea on the dual GPU version of kepler to beat the HD7990 being released in early march(march 12th supposedly). For reference, Nvidia's CEO claimed they have Kepler based prototypes in their labs since november(no specific model stated), while AMD have had Tahiti prototype GPU's( the ones used in the HD7970), since last june, and the cards are only getting launched now(7 months later), and they didn't encounter any problems that required multiple revisions or anything. So if we apply the same rule for Kepler, assuming it's the high end version they have in their labs right now, then we won't see it on retail until may at the earliest... |
