Just completed a crazy mission for a guild. At one point I was stuck in a dungon room with 4 draugr deathlords and 3 scourges. Wow.... I used up all my tricks, shouts and powers (and health potions) getting out of that room. (Next room, draugr death overlord....)

Is there a mod or a tweak that makes the trees look good at least 100 feet away? They look like paper cut outs.

Yeah, they only render a few local trees, then they become sprites. You can crank up the number rendered trees in the .ini from the default 20 to like 200 or something, but I imagine it will have a large negative effect on performance. A good medium is 50 or 60, mine seems to run fine around there.

You can also get LOD tree shadows mod which makes them look better as well.

Ramping up the rendered number didn't hurt too much, but even at 200, which is what I have it set at there are still a ton not rendered unless you raise the uGrids as well.

You can change the ugrids to skyrim.ini to go from the default 5 to 9. This increases the radius around which detailed objects are loaded, so it can hurt performance if you don't have the ram or vram to handle it (but if you've got enough, you really won't notice a performance impact, unless you graph it out with fraps).

At the top of the skyrim.ini (and not the skyrimprefs.ini), add the following:

uExterior Cell Buffer=36
fdefaultfov=100
uGridsToLoad=9
uInterior Cell Buffer=12
uExterior Cell Buffer=64

You can remove the fov line if you want, or change it to something else.

I also recommend the above mentioned lod tree shadow mod (it makes the distant trees look much better) and the 4GB fix if you're going to do this. I haven't had any crashes with the 4GB fix, and from what others have said here, you need it if you're going to increase the ugrid count.

Your uExterior Cell Buffer is set for 7 uGrids not 9.

That number should always be (uGrids + 1)^2 so a setting of 9 uGrids would be 100 cell buffer.

The more I admire the scenery in this game, the more i love it. Couple it with the FXAA injector mod and its just brilliant.
