HTML5 has not been finalised yet, since some browsers support more of the spec than others.

Even if HTML 5 became the defacto standard for videos on the internet instantly, Flash would still be around for at least 5 years to support legacy websites and applications. The ability to render the content without the plugin will be a big deal in transitioning away from it.
