Definitely not. I finished the game today... was longer than the first, but felt shorter because it wasn't annoying to play at times like I dealt with on the original. Ezio is a much better character, also (IMHO).

Speaking of the "other" secrets... they have some pretty good puzzles attached... they start off pretty easy but they get kind of hard at times (only have 4 to go I think). |

Hats off to the developers, they've really made the effort to improve on this franchise. So far It's a lot more satisfying experience than the first.

Im at the venice part now, its been great so far. Definitely a leap ahead of the original. The game feels and plays exactly the same, but with the new weapons, notoriety, upgrades and techniques, the game is a lot more varied and free. Combat seems to be a little harder now but maybe its just me. The story is getting more and more interesting too and it grows on you.
If you loved the first game, you'll love this one even more.

Better, less monotonous. You don't have to touch the side missions. Combat is harder. Story is much, much more interesting (Glyph hunting anyone?). You still need the tower climbing. I suggest to everyone to pickup the codex pages they find during their normal playthrough... Small spoiler > They are needed for the final mission later on...

The story is great as usual, and the characters have a lot more personality than the first game did. Im so glad they did away with the repetitive mission objectives, they got old by the 3rd mission in AC1.
You'll have to play the game to truly know just how much of an improvement this game is over the first. Its a product of fan feedback, whatever was great in AC1 was brought back into AC2 and improved in that and many other areas. Im actually glad AC1 wasnt as good because if not we wouldnt be playing this improved version of assassin's creed right now. I was going to wait for the PC version but my excitement made me buy the 360 version immediately. Im glad i bought it anyway, at least i wont be so tempted to read the entire plot summary on wiki before the PC version is out.
