You're missing the whole point Roadie.

NVIDIA has obviously had driver issues with games over the years.

The point of the thread is to alert 7970 buyers there aren't currently good CF drivers for this card. So they might want to wait to buy CF.

If it takes a month to sort this out, $1100 is a lot of cash to have sitting wasted.

Skyrim cpu hog - Creation Engine engine was never really good at multi gpu scaling, Rollo take a look at 590gtx stock 570gtx beats it. xD

Batman is **** in dx11, unoptimized engine code implementation and on top of that its a twimtbp game (close dev talk).. But hey where are all nvidia optimzations for it a Rollo? will you make a note to nv driver team for that as well?

We all know months to fix would never happen. ATI releases at least 1 driver release a month... Plus multiple crossfire profiles a month now...

At 2560x1600, yes. You keep leaving that fact out. This issue is for a specific resolution that most people don't use.

Only those fortunate (or in this case unfortunate) enough to have a $1000 30" monitor will experience this issue.

The problem of not seeing any scaling at 2560x1600 in Battlefield 3 (and ONLY 2560x1600) while seeing no scaling in Batman: Arkham City, crashes at 2560x1600 in Skyrim and the large dips in frame rate in Deus Ex: Human Revolution are pretty dramatic and damning for the brand new architecture.

I wonder if it's a weird 16:10 issue, because the 1920x1080 shows a 100% increase in framerate for BF3. I guess we will find out tomorrow, since Roadhog runs at 2560x1440. Can't wait.

I have a 25X16 monitor, I'd think most people considering a $550 card wouldn't be playing at 19X10. Why would they waste the money? A $200 560Ti or 6950 plays almost everything well at 1080p.

The Hardware Heaven review shows scaling at the games they tested (except Skyrim) at 57X10, so scaling at multiple 1080p monitors is not affected.

Personally I can't imagine a person buying more than one 7970 for less than 25X16, so I think the thread is useful. I'll edit the OP to note the 25X16 factor.

Unfortunately we cannot show you CrossFireX scaling, but we can show you SLI scaling. So far, we are not seeing the greatest SLI scaling we've seen in a game. Right now, we are experiencing a 46% performance benefit with two GTX 580 video cards versus one.

I would get only one card and wait month or two before drivers settle and than pop in another one. I believe that CF HD6970 owner have no need for upgrade however only reason i could see is Tess. Performance which is important in quite few games.

Are you saying that no one should purchase a GTX 580 for 1920x1080 either? The 580 is still $500.

Regardless, I'm sure there are people out there who would purchase two 7970's to play at 1920x1080, in order to use the highest graphical settings possible.

I agree that a high resolution, 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 is necessary for a crossfire setup to be fully utilized. But I don't think it's entirely ridiculous to run 1080p with 8xAA/16xAF and maxed out settings on a 7970 crossfire setup.

To each their own, but I'd rather skip this gen and buy a 25X16 monitor with the $1100 personally.

I would say that about Kepler as well- dual high end Kepler seems like a waste to me as AA has highly diminishing returns over 4X.

To many variables to make blanket advice. In general I think a 580 (or 7970) is overkill at 1080P, unless you're doing 3d.

OTOH, if you're buying a long term card it could make sense. (and I mean 2 years+)

High end graphics should be matched to more demanding displays or they're largely wasted.
