Graphics performance of the GeForce 8300 mGPU was determined using F.E.A.R.'s internal benchmark with in-game settings at medium and maximum quality. Performance was tested with a 256MB frame buffer under Windows XP and Windows Vista, which provided virtually identical performance yielding an average frame rate over 30 frames per second (fps) at the resolutions of 640x480 and 800x600.
Motherboard GPU Performance
Increasing the mGPU frame buffer to 512MB had no effect on performance in F.E.A.R.
DISCRETE GPU PERFORMANCE
Performance with a discrete GPU, the 512MB GeForce 9600 GT, which is currently selling around the $115 price point, is shown below. Note that with the more powerful discrete GPU, the resolutions benchmarked are significantly higher than they were on the mGPU. Antialiasing and soft shadow performance was also tested with the dGPU.
